How to learn Korean fast (without the nonsense)

Speed comes from cutting waste, not from studying more hours.

Fast progress in Korean is mostly about not wasting the first three months. Nearly everyone does, in predictable ways.

These are the levers that actually move the needle.

Take the fastest win first — free alphabet and syllable worksheets.

1. Read Hangul before anything else

It takes a weekend and it multiplies the value of every resource you touch afterwards. Learners who delay it spend months half-learning pronunciation from romanised text, then have to relearn it.

2. Front-load the words that repeat

The most common 1,000 Korean words cover the overwhelming majority of everyday speech. Learn those before anything specialised. Your favourite drama vocabulary can wait.

3. Speak before you're ready

Output is uncomfortable and it's the fastest accelerator there is. A weekly conversation from month two will put you ahead of someone who studies silently for a year.

4. Daily input, no exceptions

Fifteen minutes of Korean audio every day beats two hours on Saturday. Your ear tunes through frequency of exposure, not total volume.

  • Read something in Hangul aloud, daily.
  • One structured grammar source, finished, no hopping.
  • Review yesterday's words before learning new ones.
  • Accept sounding bad for the first six months.

What doesn't work

Collecting resources. Perfecting grammar before speaking. Studying alphabets and phrasebooks simultaneously. Waiting until you 'feel ready' to use any of it.
